New Pricing, Packages & Website for 2009

In response to the turmoil in the world economy, Surf Tours Nicaragua's management has adjusted our Package Pricing to ensure that our clients will continue to return in the future. While our competitors have raised their prices for 2009, we took the initiative to cut our costs, and have passed those savings on to you.

As well, we are proud to announce that we have added 2 new Packages to our offerings: our Learn-to-Surf Package and our Nicaragua Eco-Adventure Package both add to our already extensive package offerings.

Finally, we launched a new version of our Website that we think you will find more interactive and functional. Check it out at SurfToursNicaragua.com

STN Yoga/Surf Retreat...May, 2009

Some have described surfing as "yoga on water." Many yogic practices are similar to those experienced on the surf by bringing about feelings of balance, inner peace and bliss; the combination is now practiced at our 1st Annual STN Yoga/Surf Retreat, May 2 to 8, 2009.

Yoga and surfing, a natural combination, are perfected in this program on Playa Hermosa Beach in northwest Nicaragua; the home of uncrowded surfing and unspoiled beaches. You'll learn from outstanding yoga and surfing professionals, as you take in the tropical beauty and magnificent Pacific Ocean surf of northern Nicaragua.

Space is limited to 10 participants, so SIGN UP NOW!!! to ensure that you get a spot. Check out our Yoga Retreat for complete information.

End of Season 2008 Update

Hey all,

Nic Reid here with Surf Tours Nicaragua. Just a quick one to give you an update on what has been happening here in northern Nicaragua! July and August were our two best months so far. Business has been absolutely booming, but that still doesn't mean that we are overcrowding the waves—we’re still sticking to providing outstanding service to small groups in order to maintain our family feel! I want to extend a special thank you to all of you that came to visit us this season, I can't tell you how much we appreciate your support and patronage of "the little surf camp that could!" Haha!

PHOTOS

We’ve posted a BUNCH more photos on the media page: at www.surftoursnicaragua.com/media

Check them out and tell me what you think: nicanicolas@gmail.com

Angela, Operations Manager 2008

Many of you had the pleasure of meeting Angela and I want to extend a special “thank you” to for her hard work during long days and her OUTSTANDING customer service. She really is a wonderful person, who I enjoyed working with very much!

June Shockers: Cut Molecules

We had a little accident in late June that was a bit of a shocker, but my good buddy Phil has recovered from "cutting his molecules" just fine, and thankfully is back on the waves! Poor guy missed 10 days of surfing after he sliced open his calf on his 3rd wave of his tour. Luckily, the hospital in Managua (donated by the richest family in the country) is an incredible facility, and they were able to patch him up in PROPER style! Although it was a scary experience for all of us, it is good to know that in the face of serious injury the situation is COMPLETELY manageable! Thanks for sticking in there with me, Phil, come back and see us—this time it is on me!

July

Of the July tours, the Surf Gallery Gang definitely scored the best and most consistent waves. Punta Miramar made its best showing of the season, and Freight Trains was no slacker either! Thanks to Micah for making that happen, and to the guys for an excellent week. We really enjoyed your company both in and out of the water!!!

The Savage Insects & Dark Horses officially get the SKUNK Award of 2008, which I am sorry to say fellas, didn't happen again the whole season. Luckily, they were willing to participate in some of the other awesomeness of Nicaragua while they were with us. Thanks to my cousin Patrick for "helping" out with these guys.

August

You won't find the Gay Bay Boys in the photos, unfortunately, 'cause our fill-in boat driver swamped the boat with Angela taking pictures and broke the camera...yeah, you heard that one right. Sorry for that Gentlemen! I was as disappointed as you were, I assure you. I can tell you this, though, these guys absolutely SCORED for the 13 days they were with us. With just the two of them for two weeks, we got to know them pretty well, which was an ABSOLUTE pleasure from top to bottom. Thanks, gentlemen!

The Panamanian Wonders brought with them our 2nd and 3rd girls of the season (where are you ladies...get down here and lets catch some of the best waves in the world). Angela was elated to have some femininity in the house for the first time in months, and I have to admit the change was nice! What a pleasure these four were...thank you so much for all the great stories along the way! The Silver Bulls graced us again with their ever-welcome presence...and once again scored some pretty epic waves! We are looking forward to seeing these guys again in November!!!

We finished up August with a visit from a dude I met at Punta San Diego earlier in the season. The Black Pirates came for a quick visit and SCORED as well as anyone did all season. I really can't count how many times Jesse said "I just got the best barrel of my life" as we were paddling back out together. Bummer that we have no shots of those ones...but the good news is that the camera is fixed!!! And last but not least, my good buddy Jason came back for another visit. Although he didn't score nearly the way he did in April, we had a GREAT time SUMO wrestling on the beach in front of the house! Rematch???

Moving Forward…

As September comes to a close, we are preparing for a month in the US for a break from the heat and the rains that plague Nicaragua in October. We'll be back here in November to start up again, and are really looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas in Paradise. Mama Reid is going to grace us for Christmas and I’m putting her to work. Don’t miss her FAMOUS pumpkin and apple pies...it would be a travesty!

That's all from here. I hope to see you all in Nicaragua soon!

Peace and good surfin' to ya!

Off to the Homeland

Surf Tours Nicaragua has been here in Leon, hard at work on our business plan and getting our ducks in a row to get out of town. A few fun things have happened over the past week that are notable.

First and foremost, the Giant Killers have struck again! Oregon State beat the #1 ranked USC Trojans at Reser Stadium this past Thursday night to solidify their position in the world at the "Giant Killers." I watched the game at La Perla in Leon with some friends there, whooping it up at my Beavers stomped on the Trojans from start to finish!

Second, we have made the decision to bring on a manager for this coming year in order to free up some time to focus on sales and marketing. With our lofty goal of doubling our client base from 75 in 2008 to 150 in 2009, we feel like it is in our best interest to hand over the daily operations of the business too a qualified manager (or team) and to put our energy into developing lasting relationships in the surf industry to secure our position at Nicaragua's Surf and Adventure Travel Experts.

Finally, we finally had time to work on the website and internet marketing a bit. Check out the website at www.surftoursnicaragua.com and be sure to got to the Media page at www.surftoursnicaragua.com/media for a look at all the new photos that we uploaded. As well, we now have Facebook and MySpace pages that are really driving our internet marketing to a new level. See our STN Facebook profile here and our STN MySpace profile here.

Next week, our owner, Nic Reid will head off to the US to have a little personal time outside of Nicaragua, and to continue our surf shop paper marketing campaign. Look for him in SoCal and Northern Florida over the next month, hitting the surf shops, camps and instructional facilities with flyers, displays, T-shirts, posters and more.

Please not the following offer for surf shop owners/managers, instructors, and other surf industry leaders. For any clients that are directly referred to Surf Tours Nicaragua and sign up for a tour with us, we will kick back 10% of the gross sales to that person in the form of a credit with us for a future tour. Example: if someone refers a group of 4 to us with gross receipts of $4,000 for a tour, the referrer receives a credit of 10% of that value, or $400 toward an all-inclusive tour of northern Nicaragua and Nicaragua's best waves with Surf Tours Nicaragua! Pretty killer, eh?

All for now...more to come! Peace and good surfin' to ya!
